Great Corby School Uniform Policy

At Great Corby School, we believe our uniform helps foster a strong sense of belonging, community, and pride in our school. This updated policy has been thoughtfully developed to better support our children's active learning environment, especially through our unique and fun-filled Outdoor Play and Learning (OPAL) lunchtimes. We've also listened to feedback from our parents and children to ensure our uniform is practical, comfortable, and affordable.

General Uniform Guidelines

We ask that all clothing be clearly labelled with your child's name to help us return any lost items quickly.

There's no requirement to have the school logo embroidered on any clothing. If you wish to purchase items with the school logo, these are available via BE Uniform (West Tower Street, Carlisle), One Identity or the MyClothing website. To support our families and promote sustainability, we also run a second-hand uniform shop. Please contact the school office for more information.

Nursery Uniform

Nursery pupils are welcome to wear the school uniform to feel part of our school community. The emphasis on joggers, leggings, and trainers is particularly beneficial for our youngest learners.

Shoe Tying for Independence

For children wearing laced footwear, it is an important developmental step for them to learn how to tie their own shoelaces. This skill not only promotes independence and self-reliance but also ensures their footwear remains secure during active play and learning, preventing trips and falls.

We encourage parents to teach their children this valuable life skill. Here is a fantastic video that offers a clear and easy-to-follow guide on how to teach children to tie their shoes:

We believe this updated uniform policy provides a comfortable, practical, and cost-effective solution that truly supports every child's learning journey and their energetic participation in all aspects of school life, especially our fantastic OPAL activities.
